The TCPHS alumni meet periodically throughout the year to reconnect with one another and to network.
On February 21st the school held its 2nd TCPHS alumni event with an in house volleyball match. We had a great response with many of our alumni, currently attending university, home for reading week. The alumni students, some dressed in their old Town Centre jerseys, faced off against members of the current Under 20 Boys’ and Girls’ Volleyball teams followed by a mixed match for a total of 4 games. Our own Sydnie C. was a great Master of Ceremonies and current grades 9 and 10 students were also present to watch the event. The STRIVE Club sold pizza and soft drinks to those in attendance. It was a great evening to catch up with the TCPHS Alumni!
During the month of December, teachers Mr. Lam and Ms. Somji were accompanied by 14 TCPHS alumni for an evening of black light archery tag and other archery games held at the Archery Circuit. It was an active and fun evening of running, shooting, laughter and reconnecting. The alumni enjoyed this event, and pizza afterwards. Many alumni posted on Facebook after the evening’s festivities and the majority are planning to attend future TCPHS alumni events.
Upcoming alumni events will include an invitation to attend our annual Arts Night in May, which will include the school play and art show. The school band also participates playing their latest work. After the Arts Night performances, we invite our alumni to mingle at a local establishment.
In 2016 the TCPHS first alumni student basketball game was played and we had 100 people attend. After enjoying a pizza dinner, teams played two, 25 minute halves of basketball. The alumni commandingly led most of the game, so we decided to reset the score to 0-0 with five minutes remaining in the second half. Town Centre’s starting line up managed to edge the alumni in the final seconds of the game!
Another popular event was the TCPHS’ alumni axe throwing competition night, reconnecting them with each other and their teachers. The alumni faced off at Yorkdale Battlegrounds Axe Throwing, where they competitively tested their accuracy by throwing axes at a target. We would like to congratulate Mujahid H. and Swam R. who advanced to the final round of competition.
